heart transplant

Yesterday I bought yet another copy of 'Kreko'. For those of you not in the know, Kreko is a magazine filled with mangas. Or rather, Kreko is a collection of mangas, not unlike Japan's 'Young Jump' comics; where they put loads of mangas in one comic. Value for money is the name of the game, I guess.

Anyhow, one of the mangas currently featured in Kreko is the ever famous 'Naruto' series. I've always been a fan of mangas; Dragon Ball, Eyeshield 21, Whistle, Slam Dunk, Yakitake! Japan, Satan 666..and the list goes on and on.. and even if I've already read them, if they're good (which they usually are, and 'good' is an understatement), I'll reread them. Over and over. The same goes for this Naruto series. I've read it over the internet and watched the anime. Still I can't resist reading it in Kreko. This got me thinking; what's with these mangas anyway..? Why are they so addictive? And how did they make them sooo good that even if you're reading for the umpteenth time, they still bring about the same emotions, enthusiasm, expectations and excitement as when you're reading them for the first time..?

The way I see it, mangakas put in a lot of heart in their work. While comics from the west are mostly drawn very nicely and have advanced storylines, mangas have a lot of heart. The heart (and emotions) of the mangaka is put together with the manga he or she presented to the readers, and most of the time (if not all the time), we feel it when we're enjoying their work. A skipped beat of the heart, the urge to shed a tear..these are all 'trails' left by a great mangaka in his/her work, for the readers to discover.

Be happy. Enjoy manga :)

coin toss

There are two sides to every story. At the very least. But for whatever reasons lots of people usually choose to hear only one side of the story. Maybe because it opens up room for speculation, which is fun and exciting. Maybe because it's easier. Maybe because it opens up the possibility for them to be 'right' once in a while.

And they end up getting hurt. Or hurting others. Or both.

books and covers

It's surprisingly very easy to like people once you get to know them. And it's also UNsurprisingly very easy to hate people you don't know.

Prejudice is a bad, bad (sad, sad?) thing.

have opinion or not?

My father passed away when I was eleven, so naturally I grew up having lots of questions unanswered. Basically, I just watched everybody else and learned because honestly there were (there still are) lots of things to be learnt, especially when you were growing up. And how I was in awe with all the people who are so confident and so "I know what I'm doing"-ish.

As I become older and developed my own stand and opinions on different things, I realized that lots of people actually DON'T know what they're doing and lots of times people think they ARE doing the right things when in reality they aren't. And people have opinions and views and you actually don't have to believe everyone and if you think you're right you should just say so even if it reduces the 'comfort level' with a particular person or group of people and you SHOULD NOT respect anyone too much that you sacrificed your own individuality. As a general rule (I got this from 'the sunscreen song,' if anyone remembered);

be careful which advice you take
be patient to those who supply them

There really are lots of idiots in this world. But most mean well.

rant

It is unfortunate that people with more money are seen as better (in everything) and smarter. It is much sadder that these people are convinced that they are better and smarter than everyone else. Being the helpful person that I am, I prepared a list of suggestions of how people might have lots of money without necessarily being smart(er) and/or better than everyone else;

1) rich dad
2) rich spouse
3) rich friend(s)
4) politically correct decisions
5) winning lotteries
6) be in an EPL team players' roster (not playing, though. That would make him better than most)
7) someone died and leave their possessions to someone else..what's the word...umm. Ah! Inheritance
8) ...I believe this list goes on and on. But what do I know? I'm not better and smarter than everyone else

And to whoever that has treated me like I'm some piece of trash just because I don't earn 3K plus a month, fuck you and all your kind. The smartest people in this country are not the best paid. Shove that in.

bliss

It seems now that every weekend, there's always at least one wedding I need to attend (which is not a bad thing, in case I sounded as if it is). Weddings are generally great if you can forget about your being single or without any money to get married if you're not :p ..so to all the couples that had had their weddings and those who will be having their weddings this year (or in the near future, if you may); I salute you, all of you. You braved the in-laws and the rising petrol (and everything else, really) prices and the possibility to never again look at another man or woman the way singles do without feeling guilty and made a decision. Congratulations. For better, or for worse.

Now live with it, breeders!! >:p
