what money can do

Money, on its own, cannot make anyone happy. We are happy when we have money because we start to anticipate and expect to buy things that might make us happy. In other instances it might be because we can buy things for people we (genuinely) love and care for, and they become happy, which results in us becoming happier as well.

But still, we are not happy because we have lots of money, per se. Say, we are trapped in some cave and there is no way at all that we can get out and no one knows we're stuck there BUT we have like, 3 trillion USD at our disposal (the size of Obama's stimulus package, yo!), will we be happy? Well I know I won't. And it's not because the USD is not backed by anything. You can change the currency, I still won't be happy. Not even with the Yen or Dinar. Not even on a more exalted proportions.

So with respect to this, I wonder how a Muslim, or any other human being from any other faiths which do not condone illegal money (I'm sure there are lots, if not all), can be happy just by obtaining money from sources which are haram. I've lots of haram money yo! Cool huh? No, no. this is absurd. It must then be that that particular person is happy with the haram money because s/he can anticipate or expect to buy things that can make her/him happy, or make someone s/he loves and cares for happy.

But what do you buy with haram money that can genuinely make you happy? Or alternatively, what can you buy for your loved ones using haram money that can make them happy and contented? The best thing you can do then, is buy them stuffs but not tell them that they were bought using haram money. But if you do that, you'd be betraying the trust of the very people you love and care for, no?

Choose to get out of the cave and not the money, come on.
